Five Question Friday 1.6.12

1. What is the weather like where you are and do you like it?
ummmmmm…. last time I checked it was January.  Today the thermometer says it’s 50 degrees…. in southwestern PA… Just a few days ago it was in the teens and absolutely frigid.

Right now, the weather just needs to make up its mind.  It should be cold this time of year.  It should snow.  But that is in the beauty of living in southwestern PA.  You never know what the weather is going to be like…  I do enjoy the change of seasons.  I think if I lived anywhere else, I would truly miss the seasons of SW PA (as wonky as they are).

2. When you’re sick what do you seek comfort from?
Ahhhhh…. This question is so appropriate!  Wanna know why?!  Because I suggested it to the powers that be at @5crookedhalos via twitter.
I’ve been feeling like crap for over a week now… (more about that soon). My must haves have been my heating pad.  My couch. My DVD player and DVDs from friends and family.
My heating pad and I have been through a lot together.  All sorts of aches and pains over the years… after my car accident… through bumps and bruises and now this latest venture.  CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT IT.  Praying it doesn’t fizzle out on me any time soon… it will be a sad day… a very sad day.

3. What do you need to do before the end of the month?
GET BETTER!  That would be wonderful….
Actually, what I would like to do before the end of the month is to put away all my Christmas decorations.  I just didn’t feel ’em this year, like normal. USUALLY they’d be left up until the middle or end of February.
Having said that I am hoping to go through and get rid of stuff in my storage closet that I no longer need.  I’m actually going to get rid of some of my teaching stuff… It will be an extremely hard thing for me to do, but it’s time. 🙂

4. Have you ever served on a jury?
I don’t want to answer this question in fear of jinxing myself so I plead the 5th respectively.

5. If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?
Weird question… one that I’ve actually heard people ask.  Some have even said they’ve been asked this question on an interview…
I don’t know.  I’m allergic to cats and dogs… bunnies are adorable…  Maybe a lion?  Nah.
Ooooh… I know… A wild horse.  Yes… that’s it.  To be able to run free and wild along the shores or in fields.  I think that’d be superb.
There ya have it my friends… my Five Question Friday post actually completed on a Friday!  Your turn… link up!

The Slacker’s Edition of Five Question Friday!

ooooooooooook…..

So apparently I am not good at actually posting a Five Question Friday post on Friday…. This is the 2nd week in a row I am posting it on Saturday.

Therefore we have the Slacker’s Edition on Saturday… Perhaps, I’ll start a trend. 😉

1. Do you have a go to song that always puts you in a good mood?
I’ve got a coupla favorites that do the trick… Well actually most anything I listen to gives me a quick pick me up.  The music I listen to when I am happy is the same I listen to when I’m sad, mad, angry, excited, etc.  That’s the beautiful thing about music for me; it’s got the power to lift me up or keep me up no matter the day or circumstance.

Here’s 3 that are very different, in very different genres that do the trick….

2. Are you a real Christmas tree kinda person or do you go with a real fake one?
I am a faker all the way… I’m allergic to trees.  No, seriously, I am.  PLUS I am the HUGEST (love making up my own words 😉  ) fan of Christmas and usually leave my decorations up through January and occasionally into February.  I LOVE all things Christmas:  music, decorations, buying gifts, making gifts, the food, time with family.  ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT ALL!!!!!

One of my trees...

3. What are you thankful for?
I am so incredibly thankful so very many things… But most especially that as of yesterday, I am OFFICIALLY a full-time member of the working force again.  It’s been a long five months, but hard work & stepping ENTIRELY outside of my comfort zone has landed me a pretty amazing and awesome experience in a new field.

4. Which fashion fad from the past do you wish you could wear today?
Hmmmmm…. that is tricky!!!  When talking past fashion fads I automatically remember all the ones I DON’T wanna see come back.  Like pegged jeans.  And stirrup pants.  Can you believe I have seen them in stores?!?!?  Who wants to wear those again… not me!!!  I think the absolute WORST fad that could come back would be body suits.  Do you remember those???? Why as an adult would you wanna wear a onesie?  Uncomfortable and unflattering.
But, alas that is not the question at hand… I love wide legged jeans… they most definitely need to make a come back as opposed to all this skinny jean and jegging nonsense.
5. Do you wait until the “low fuel” light comes on before you fill up the gas tank?
More often than not, yes I do.  It drives my mom CRAZY!  gas is so stinking expensive!  It is sad that I get excited to see that gas is down to $3.39 a gallon… When I started driving it was less than a dollar!  Damn, that makes me feel old!!!!
Well my friends… It’s your turn…
Be a slacker like me, do the slacker’s edition of 5QF…. you know you wanna!

Have a great weekend my loves!  xoxoxo

Five Question Friday on Saturday!

Oops! I’m a day behind….

What’s the last thing you spent too much money on?

By far my biggest purchase ever has been my car even though I’m still paying on it now and will be for a few more years.   The down payment for her (yes, my car is a she) was the largest amount of moolah I forked over to anyone at any given time for any reason.  The other thing that I am indebted to would be my school loans… BLAH!  As if my undergraduate work didn’t cost me enough, I had the idea to start graduate work a coupla years ago so there’s still lots to be paid out on those.

As far as actual physical items that I paid for in their entirety I would say that my laptop, which is now currently hooked up to an external monitor, keyboard and mouse because the backlight went in it when it was less than two years old, is the most pricey.

On a whole though, I would have to say my crafty supplies cost me a small fortune.  While I’ve accumulated them over the course of many years, each purchase has surely added up to a lofty grand total if I surmised correctly. I could seriously open my own supply shop with all that I have.  From ridiculous amounts of decorative paper to the insanely absurd amount of clear rubber stamps to all the gadgets you could think of…. I’ve got ’em.

This is only a LITTLE of my stash!!!

2. What celeb chef would you want to make you dinner?

Celeb?!?  Ummmm, I’d settle for a hot, handsome, dreamy fella cooking me dinner… doesn’t have to be a celeb.  Hell, I don’t care who it is…. Who wants to make me dinner????? Come on over!

3. Where do you hide things when visitors pop over or do you let them see the real deal?

There is no hiding my mess.  I blame it on my creative personality.  🙂 Just ask my cousin who lives next door… You may not be able to see my living room floor if I am in the middle of a crafty project…. which tends to become an issue because, well…. I am always working on a crafty project!!! 🙂

4. Who is your oldest living family member?

That would be my Great Aunt Lyna… Although I can’t remember her exact age (I know mom would know), she is the last of my great aunts & uncles on my mom’s side of the family. She is the tiniest of ladies with a spunky personality… She’s always been the spitfire in our family.

5. What is your favorite DQ treat and/or Sonic drink combo (ie: cherry vanilla Dr. Pepper)?

I have never been to a Sonic before!!! EVER!!!  Now, DQ, that’s a whole different scenario.  My absolute favorite would be a sundae with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge and raspberry sauce.  I haven’t had one from DQ in YEARS!!!!  It’s best that it stay away. 🙂

Your turn!! Follow the blog hop and add your link below!!

First Ever Five Question Friday

1. Do you prefer cotton, silk, or flannel sheets?
I’m a cotton sheet gal all the way, every day.  The only time I purchased flannel sheets was when I lived in an older home that had no insulation, old windows and a gas furnace.   I  kept my thermostat set REALLY, really low to save on the heating bill!  Now living on the 3rd floor of an apartment building I don’t have to turn my heat on until December. 🙂

2. What time zone are you in?
My neck of the woods is located in the Eastern Time Zone.  I can NEVER keep the time zones straight.  One of my best friends lives in Washington and I can never remember the time difference… I ALWAYS end up calling her during her work day.  Luckily I’ve stopped myself from calling her at the butt crack of dawn.  A couple of times it’s come very close!

3. What is your favorite part of the holiday season?
Everything about it!  I love the music…. the decorations… making gifts… wrapping gifts… the food… family get-togethers… I LOVE IT ALL!!!  Thanksgiving night I usually start putting up all my decorations, but this year I have to work the day after so I will most likely have to wait until Saturday.

4. What is your favorite “wintry” drink? (It doesn’t have to be an “alcoholic” drink!)
I am not much of a hot drink person…. I LOVE the way coffee smells but can’t fathom the taste of it.  I’ve tried flavored coffee & creamers and it just doesn’t make a difference.  I do love hot chocolate with TONS of marshmallows.  My everyday go to is hot tea… The Earl Grey K-Cups for the Keurig at work are fabulous!!!  But my favorite “wintry” drink would have to be Kahlua and cream…. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

5. In your opinion, what is the worst job in the world?
This is a toughy…. For me I would have to say anything dealing with blood, guts, gore or bodily fluids…. So I’m thinking that while being a zoo keeper would be pretty cool, the cleaning up afterwards wouldn’t be too good.  I could never be a doctor or a nurse even though I love helping people because of all the “stuff”.  I could never be the person that has to deal with road kill (if there is even anyone that does that)… and as the lovely RNP pointed out, dealing with port-a-potties would be a pretty “crappy” job.    The worst though…. for me… would be a Funeral Director or Mortician.  Couldn’t be around that sadness all the time.
