GRRRR… WordPress does not like me lately.

Friday I wanted to post about my new gadget and the cool home I got for it… with lots of pictures. Ended up just posting about new songs I purchased instead…

Yesterday I wanted to document a much-needed, long over due day of pampering…with more pictures.  Ended up not posting at all… First day I didn’t post since March 5th…  That didn’t make me happy!

AND, today I wanted to share pictures from my Easter visits with family….

BUT… WordPress is not cooperating!

Pictures won’t upload…

They won’t go in the placement I want them to be…

I can’t move them where I want them to go.

SOOOOOOOOOO, frustrating!

I started stressing about what to write…. WHY?  Well, because somewhere along the way I started pushing myself to post every day.  When I started the blog, I posted here and there… no rhyme or reason… Just when ever an idea popped into my head.  At the start of the year I committed to the PostAWeek challenge and somehow started posting everyday.  More recently topic ideas were getting a bit more difficult… causing me to stress and over-think things…Resulting in posts that aren’t very good!

I also found myself getting frustrated with stats and obsessing on numbers.  Why aren’t I getting as many hits as others?  No new subscribers in a while?  Seriously I was starting to obsess about it.

Hmmmmm.  NOT why I started this blog in the first place…. I’m not sure when I started to care about the numbers, but I’ve decided to stop looking as often.  Yes, I want people to read my blog, but when I first started it, it was for me and me only to get the “stuff” outta my head.

I realized that sharing my thoughts with you shouldn’t be frustrating… Sharing my days with you shouldn’t be frustrating.

Writing is something I love to do… pictures add to the story, but they don’t make the story.

Writing for my blog shouldn’t be stressful…  It’s something I’ve enjoyed since I first started last June… It’s been therapeutic and has helped in healing; it’s helped me to meet some of the most amazing people that I never could have met otherwise… Some of which I consider to be honest, sincere and true friends.

The numbers don’t matter… the pictures don’t matter.

Getting my story out there is what matters…

Sharing my story with you…

Each of you that stop by and read my ramblings matter…

So now i feel as if I’m a bit refocused.

If you don’t hear from me for a few days… no worries; all is well and good. I promise! 🙂

I don’t want to post because I feel like I have to post. That’s not fair to you that come back to read. I wanna get back to writing the things I love to write about… sharing the things I want to share.  Writing the way I did to bring my readers to this blog in the first place.  By sharing bits ‘n pieces of me!!!

*** Wouldn’t it figure that adding a picture worked just as I wanted it to now???? Just sayin’.  ***

How do you stay true to the goal of your blog?  What do you do when you have trouble coming up with ideas?  Do you find the committment to posting daily/weekly to be daunting at times?

Best Ever…

As you all know I’m a music fanatic!  I’ve gone on and on in posts talking of how music helps to soothe my soul,  makes me a dancing fool and allows me to pretend I can sing like a rock star.  Music remains playing in my head even when the a song is over.  I hear music in silence.

I’ve gone to many live shows through the years and have a longer list of those I still want to see at some point.   While I absolutely love listening to my favorites in the car, at home and at work, there is quite simply no better way to enjoy and appreciate music than witnessing the act live and in person.

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing some pretty awesome shows so far spanning a variety of genres.  I honestly haven’t been to a show that I didn’t enjoy.  Of course there were some that I enjoyed more than others, but each were enjoyable in their own respect.

Here are my BEST EVERs….

5.) H.O.R.D.E. Festival (either 95 or 96)

Got to see the Blues Travellers, Lenny Kravitz, Rusted Root and  King Crimson.  This was my first “real” concert without adult supervision.  I went with one of my really good friends and her boyfriend.  It was an awesome show.  Blues Travellers was just superb while Lenny Kravitz simply blew it outta the water .  No one can make the harmonica cool quite like John Popper did and who can rock a guitar quite like Lenny Kravitz?  The song I remember most distinctively from that show was when Kravitz played the opening rift of Get Away.  The place went CrAzY as it was his popular song at the time.

4.) Paul Simon and Bob Dylan:  I believe this was in 1999.  A birthday gift from my boyfriend at the time and still one of the best birthday gifts I’ve ever received to date.  (There ya have it fellas… the way to this girls heart!  Concert tickets for her birthday!  😉  )  This show was so cool just for the simple fact that two ingenious and innovational artists were sharing the stage.  Talk about a once in a lifetime opportunity… I was thrilled to be there and was not disappointed.  I will however share with you a funnily true and embarrassing story in relation to this concert.  Paul Simon had come out on stage and played a few tunes already when a Simon and Garfunkel song started to be played.  I looked at my Beau of that time in sheer and utter amazement… I simply couldn’t believe he was playing a Simon and Garfunkel song.  I even said to the bf something to the effects of “wow, how cool is it that he’s covering a Simon and Garfunkel song?”  I can’t remember exactly how he politely corrected me on the matter, but it was then that I put the two and two together that Paul Simon was the “Simon” from the outstanding duo act that was Simon and Garfunkel.  Yes, my friends… not my brightest moment… And these blonde locks aren’t even real!  🙂

3.) Dave Matthews Band:  I’ve seen DMB perform more times than I can count over the years.  At times attending back to back shows when he is in town.  It’s been much too long since I’ve seen this favorite act of mine perform.  Must make this a priority once they start touring again!  I don’t have a specific show of theirs that I enjoyed more than another.  There’s just something about the way this band gels and jams together on the stage that takes me to one of the happiest places I’ve ever been.  Their love of what they do is so apparent and their chemistry is off the hook.  From the tailgating in the parking lot to the last note of the encore the entire experience is just an incredibly awesome experience that I can enjoy time and time again.

2.) Citizen Cope:  I saw Cope for the first time last fall about a year after I first started listening to his tunes at the suggestion of one of my good girl friends.  His music is so chill; having a mixture of urban  beats with a bit of a pop flare at times really gets you in the mood for a relaxing and rewarding experience.  Took my cousin along to this show even thought she hadn’t heard him before and she was hooked pretty much immediately.  Can honestly say I’d go see Clarence Greenwood any and every chance I get… Yes, my friends… he was just that good!  Plus for now his tickets aren’t too pricey as he’s not a huge  act as of YET.  Mark my words he will be! Check him out if you get the chance!!!

1.) Roger Waters-The Wall: Unfreakinbelievably the most awesome production I have ever seen! And for several reasons.  I LOVE Pink Floyd.  No questions asked one of my all time favorite bands.  I never got to see them perform as a group so I jumped at the chance to see Roger Waters when he came to town last year.  Pink Floyd’s music has the power to take you places… through the haunting melodies and enchanting lyrics, you can’t help but be completely submersed in the experience.  The Wall is a masterpiece in and of itself.  The story told within can be confusing, but the music carries you along through the plot, climax and resolution while painting visual imagery.  Seeing “The Wall” live was just incredible… I was a bit apprehensive though as to how my favorite song, Comfortably Numb, would play out since David Gilmour sings the melodic chorus on the album and was not going to be there (although it was rumored he was to make ONE appearance during the tour, so of course we were hopeful the Pittsburgh show would be the one… No, dice.).

Let me just tell you this…. Mr. Robbie Wyckoff is just about AMAZING!  This fella couldn’t have sung my favorite song any better than Mr. Gilmour himself.  I got chills upon hearing him sing…. Simply breathtaking.  Another reason this show was simply outstanding was the actual production itself…  It helps to know the back story of the movie and music to TRULY appreciate the production itself.  The effects, stage props and support roles were just as mesmerizing as Mr. Waters himself.  Check out some of the pictures….

Check out the sound board!

Literally made me jump outta my seat.

Mr. Waters himself.

The Wall is just about complete...

The Pig

And the wall came down...

My friends, this was not your ordinary concert… it was a PRODUCTION and PERFECTION.  A.M.A.Z.I.N.G….

So there you have it… My  top 5 best ever concerts so far!  Wonder if any future concerts will knock one of these outta their ranks?  Hoping perhaps Iron and Wine will next week… pulling for last minute tickets to come through the night before.

While I’m excited for the NKOTBBSB concert in June, I am not so sure that it will be just that good to compete with these guys mentioned above.  but, hey… never say never, right?

Does music play a large rol in your life?  What was your favorite live show?  What should would you LOVE to see in the future?

***For whatever reason, this post didn’t publish properly.  It was written and published @ 11:47 PM on 4/18 not 1:45 AM on 4/19 …  Grrrr!!! ***

Toes in the Water…

Today I’m dreaming big!

Dreaming of beautifully sunny, warm weather.

 Perhaps somewhere like Aruba.

Maybe even somewhere like…. Cancun … YES, that’s it!

Ahhhh.... A little slice of heaven.

Let me start packing!

Actually at this point I’ll take just about anywhere that is a bit more sunny and warm than good old Pennsylvania.

Gleaming sun so I can bask in its rays…

Fresh water to dangle my toes…

Soft, warm sand to lay out on…

An adult beverage or two close at hand would be nice too…. Just sayin’. 🙂

I want my toes in the water....

This isn’t what I had in mind….

Soggy Shoes..... Bleh!

Yuck, yuck, yuck….. I don’t like soggy shoes and wet pants…
Ummmm…. Now I understand the usefulness of people wearing floods

Pretty sure the weather we’ve had here has something to do with today’s  longings for beaches, beverages and bumming around.

Rain, rain go away… we’ve seen to much of you today!

Rain ALL day yesterday… Rain ALL day today.  TOO MUCH RAIN.

And so my friends….  I’ve decided!  It’s time to hop on the plane to warmer weather…

I want my toes in the water!!!

CANCUN… Here I come!

Who’s coming with????

If you could hop on a plane right now where would you go?  Why?

In Case You Were Wondering….

Where I might be…

I haven’t gone missing…

I’m alive and breathing; safe and sound…

A productive two days in my apartment’s where I can be found.

Crafting Tunes…

Tunes will be playing… hopefully my phone won’t be ringing.

And if you dare come a knockin’ don’t be alarmed at the sight you’ll see.

My hair tied in a messy knot; not a stitch of make-up to be seen; comfty craftin’ clothes are all I’ll need.

Colors, colors, everywhere…

Paper will be flying… ink will be up to my elbows… acrylic stamps will be strewn about.

Crafty must-haves

color coordinating; adhesive rolling; paper-cutter sliding…

Some finished products…

Cleaning, organizing, pricing and packing…

Frames, frames and hopefully more frames 🙂

Tying up loose ends and crossing fingers for the best…

The Craft Show is on SATURDAY…

…. and then I can rest!

I’ll still be reading and commenting, but my ranting and rambling are gonna take a break for a few… You know full well I won’t be able to stay away too long!

Stay tuned for pictures over the next couple of days. 🙂

To sleep, or not to sleep: That is the question…

According to the all-knowing, high and mighty source of information that is known as Wikipedia, sleep is known as  a naturally recurring state characterized by reduced or absent consciousness, relatively suspended sensory activity, and inactivity of nearly all voluntary muscles. It is distinguished from quiet wakefulness by a decreased ability to react to stimuli, but it is more easily reversible than hibernation or coma. Sleep is a heightened anabolic state, accentuating the growth and rejuvenation of the immune, nervous, skeletal and muscular systems.

Sleep, sleep, sleep!  We all need it.

Some have no problem ascertaining a plethora of sleep at any given time on any given day.

This would not be me… sleep evades me, not consuming me.

Some can’t sleep a solid 6 hours let alone a solid 8!

This would absolutely be me.  Even when sleep 6 hours, I wake up at least once or twice every night.

Some fall asleep as soon as their head hits the pillow, while others struggle with the whatifs as discussed here

I wish sleep would take over as soon as my head meets my pillow however, I can never lay my head down and be out like a light.

Some can’t make it through the day with out a nap, while others are doomed if an afternoon cat nap enters the situation.

While generally a nap sounds like a phenomenal idea, I pretty much always could kick myself for taking one… I wake up all kinds of mixed up and confused on the day and generally wake up feeling worse than I did before having taken a nap.

How much sleep do you need?

The National Sleep Foundation  made the following recommendations for sleep…. Are you getting what you need?  This girl certainly hasn’t been!

Lately I’ve been having troubles falling asleep at a decent hour… Exhaustion has set in yet I lie in bed tossing and turning for an hour or more at times.  On average during the week I’ve been getting roughly 5 hours asleep a night, give or take a little. And I am HURTIN’ because of it. It’s been rough!  It’s been noticeable to those who’ve seen me at work.  From the controllable yawns that set in to the sleepy eyes that may as well have toothpicks in them to hold ’em open. I’m just flat-out BEAT with all kinds of things going on in my personal, work and crafting worlds at the moment. Add into the mix the nurse’s hat and a momma’s hat I wear on a daily basis and sure enough, this gal catches a lovely cold complete with sore throat, aches and chills, only a week after getting over the yucks.  Generally my immune system is built up pretty high from having been around the kiddos for so many years, but when your engine’s running low on gas to begin with, a breakdown is pretty much a given.

Last night, I crashed.  Was in bed before 9:30 and remained there until just after 9 am. Fantastically awesome Friday night, isn’t it?  😀 I was so happy that my body finally got some much-needed rest, even if it was through the help of Nyquil.  I got some rest… Yay!  Still not feeling so hot today though and allowed myself to take a nap… now I’m all mixed up thinking it’s Sunday and feel more sleepy than I did before!  Just can’t win!  🙂

Some have suggested melatonin, so I may just have to give it a shot.  Who knows?  Maybe it’s my golden ticket to sleepy land!

Are you a dreamer???

I’m often amazed by some of my dreams.  If not amazed, annoyed, petrified, enamored, disgusted or intrigued.  I’ve had a couple recurring dreams over the years that I just can’t seem to shake.  The most vivid involving a large bridge in which the vehicle I am in is involved in an accident and veers off into the water below.  Imagine my reaction upon moving to Maryland and being in a car with the former boyfriend as we begin to drive over the Bay Bridge and I begin to go in to an outright, full-fledged panic attack. It seems that the Bay Bridge was the bridge making its appearance in my dream without my ever having driven across it prior to moving to Maryland.

And how about those dreams that you don’t wanna dream; You know the ones that are about people you don’t wanna dream about… or situations you don’t wanna think about.  For me these seem to be the ones that I find myself fighting to awake from only to return to the dream as soon as I drift back into sleep with the unwanted dream picking up right where it left off.  That never happens with the good dreams!

Ahhh!  The good dreams….  the ones you DON’T wanna wake up from but of course always do.  These dreams are the ones you don’t wanna open your eyes from when the alarm awakes you or one of mother nature’s urges feels it needs to be released immediately.

The falling dreams, the fire dreams, forgetting your shoes dreams.

The dreams you only remember bits and pieces of and the ones you just can’t seem to shake if your life depended on it.

So here’s to sleeping and dreaming… Let the zzzz’s take hold and let the good dreams comes!  🙂

What kind of dreamer are you? What do you do when sleep evades you?

What ifs???

Maybe it’s because I knew just how much STUFF I have to accomplish in the next two weeks…

Maybe it’s because Sunday was my only “good” day of the weekend…

Maybe it’s because my brain NEVER shuts off…

I dunno.

Last night, I lay in bed wide awake. Physically exhausted.

Double checked, even triple checked my alarm clock to make sure it was set.

Set out my clothes for the morning, which is something I never do.  When I did in the past, by morning I never quite felt like wearing what I had set out the night before.

Made my MUST-DO list for Monday.  (Still at work now trying to catch up and cross things off by the way!)

Made sure my planner was in my new tote 🙂

All my ducks were in a row still I lay there WIDE AWAKE!  That just drives me BoNkErS!

Laying down to sleep and all of a sudden I wanna solve all the world’s problems: mine, friends, family, co-workers, students… You name it, I’m thinking about it!

Oddly enough, while laying there almost ready to start counting sheep in hopes of catching some zzz’s Shel Silverstein’s Poem, “Whatif” popped into my head.

Isn’t that when the Whatifs set in?  When you finally begin to rest after running around all day, when you’re winding down, when you are downright exhausted.

Turning off the whatifs, because “whatif” is just another way of saying worry… and remember my  friends, I am not to worry for about a month still!

Have a restful sleep my friends…

Hoping tonight the Whatifs stay away from me AND you!
