Jason Myles Goss

I love going to see up and coming artists! Whether a friend suggests them or I’ve heard one or two songs via some media outlet, checking out fresh, new artists is so much fun!

A good ways back a friend posted a video on Facebook entitled “Twilight Serenade.”  Of course I clicked it and gave it a listen…

Your turn… Give it a try!

liked it a good bit too!

So I checked out this Jason Myles Goss fella a bit more and listened to a couple more songs. Couldn’t quite pin point what it was that I liked about his music.  Each song was different in sound and message.  Some have quirky lyrics while others are heartfelt.

Somewhere along the way I heard he was coming to Pittsburgh and decided I wanted to go check him out.  Luckily I have some people close to me that enjoy checking out live music too!  My cousin Suzanne, her husband Adam, myself and a fella I was seeing at the time (not even gonna bother giving details on that! 😉 ) went out to Club Cafe to see him in January.

I absolutely LOVE Club Cafe!  It’s a quaint little venue tucked away on a side street in Pittsburgh’s South Side.  The perfect venue for smaller, lesser known or up and coming artists who are trying to grow their following.  It kinda reminds me a little bit of a cocktail lounge without the “Uppity” vibe.  Pretty chill locale and a favorite hangout in my early 20’s.  I would have to say my absolute most favorite show ever at Club Cafe was an acoustic performance by the Buzz Poets.  It was a totally different vibe from their otherwise normal high-energy, kick-a*@ shows…VERY cool to see a softer side to those crazy fellas!

Anyways….forgive me as I digressed.  Club Cafe really was the PERFECT set-up for JMG.  It was quiet, intimate and honestly a pretty sparsely populated; all of which allowed for a fun evening filled with humorous banter and stories about his songs.  What’s also nice is that you can usually get a chance to chat with the performers after the show’s over since it is such a small venue.  This evening was no exception.  Quite a nice, soft-spoken young fella Jason seemed to be.  Gracious and modest when complimented and appreciative of your presence at his show.  Looking forward to getting to see him again when he returns to Club Cafe in September.  Are you ready Sue????  🙂

Check out some of his other tunes on iTunes or youtube when you get a chance!  Help the fella out and “like” him on Facebook too while you’re at it!

Monetary donations gladly accepted!

Sooooo ya. Somehow I got another stinking virus on my laptop. Joy of joys!!!

Usually I can work through ’em & get rid of ’em all on my own. BUT… This “Windows Recovery” virus is a nasty bugger & is showing no mercy.

I caved & took the laptop to Best Buy. Guess how much to do a complete data back-up, remove the virus, & fix the hard drive? $300-$350 plus tax.

What did I originally pay for my laptop? Probably around $400. Hmmmmm. Logically one would say…”just go buy a new laptop.” I thought about it for a minute BUT the biggeat thing I am worried about is the data stored on my current laptop; most specifically my music. Ya…. my music.

Not a big deal if I backed up my library on a regular basis. But of course I haven’t done that recently. Probably not for about 4 months.

So do I risk losing almost $200 in newly purchased music & just opt for the removal of the virus & repair of the damage chancing that the hard drive could crash completely during the repair?

Do I pay $150 to get a full data back-up with an external hard drive, save up for a Mac & be without a computer for how ever long that takes?

Or do I cough up the $350 to fix & backup my 19 month old laptop that I only paid $400 for? The bonus with this final option is that all future virus fixes in the next 2 years will be free!  Woo hoo!

Ughhhh!!!!!

That right there my friends is enough to make this music lover pull her highly highlighted blondie locks right outta her head!

So I brought my laptop back home with me…infection & all in hopes of figuring out what the heck I’m gonna do.

From little bro to my bestest bloggin buddy a Mac is the way to go. I must say that i kinda agree…. i think?!?!?! Just don’t have the fundage for one at the moment.

To the ingenious hackers that created this virus… thank you for the inconvenience you’ve caused me. So very considerate of you. Hope you’ve gotten much enjoyment out of this.

Until this all gets straightened out I ask two things of you my friends …

1.) Please bear with my blog posts as I will be blogging from my phone.  Formatting may be off kilter & photos outta place & misspellings ever present ….

2.) For the love of Pete…. don’t suggest any new music to me! It’ll drive me bonkers to jot be able to purchase it! Talk about sheer & utter torture to a music junkie… please!

In the mean time… any & all monetary donations to ‘Megan’s Mac Fund’ will be graciously accepted!  😉

Happily Humming…

This evening has been somewhat enjoyable if I do say so myself…

Today was a pretty low-key kinda day with dreary weather. Stuff at home, visited my mom and 2 youngest nephews for a bit, shopped a little with Jaim, had dinner with her family and then home for the night.

I woke up way earlier than I wanted to on my day off, but by 7 AM the internal alarm had already gone off a few times!

Spent the morning doing one of my most favorite things in the world…

I purchased a TON of new music on iTunes!  9 albums to be exact… Hmmmm. Think I have a problem????

I have an ongoing list that I maintain detailing new artists I’ve heard of or older artists that I remembered to be purchased at a later date.  I put a nice dent in  the list today, but of course with every album purchased comes another one or two you add to the list!!!

The cool thing is, that a couple of today’s purchased albums were direct suggestions of fellow bloggers or I “discovered” the song in one of their posts.

Tonight, I’m sitting here enjoying each and every new dig to the fullest.

Here’s a sampling…

Christina Perri-The Ocean Way Sessions

William Fitzsimmons- Gold in the Shadow

Lights- The Listening

Paper Route- Absence

Relaxing as I sit here… happily humming my night away!

What are some new tunes you’ve enjoyed recently?  Any suggestions for me?
