THANK YOU

I really can’t find the words to say how thankful I am to all of you for your support for Pete  and I in the last week or so. While we came up a little short in the end, the fact that we ended up in third place is nothing short of amazing. We could not have gotten that far without all of you. SO THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! And a huge thanks to Pete too. You’re awesome 🙂

As I posted once or twice throughout the contest, We all have a story. Every person that entered had their reason for wanting to meet Dave. One’s reasons for wanting to meet Dave no more important than the other. I’m proud of the way Pete and I went about things… We kept it classy and played it cool, minus a little begging from all of you to JUST CLICK THE LINK 😉

You all know how much I adore Dave, the band and their music (and if you didn’t NOW YOU DO!). It’s a crazy love affair that began some 17 years ago when I first heard the music… So to say that I (we 🙂 ) would have been thrilled to meet Dave through this contest would be an understatement. As Pete said, I do as well. It’s not just a band… It’s way more than that for me (us 🙂 ) and many others. The number of shows I’ve been to is irrelevant; having been to under 20 makes me no less of a “fan” than someone who has been to 100+. For me it’s my constant happy place. NO matter the day or mood, this music has been my constant. I love the message I get from their songs. I adore the people I’ve met from all over the world (some unknowingly right in my back yard) who share in this love. People that I’ve come to know and love. People that I consider to be my family.

Something I’ve learned from all of this… from the band… from the music… from this contest… from all of the friends I’ve made through this music… If there’s something you want to do… DO IT. “Take these chances…”

Do what makes you happy. Be with the people you love. If you’re not happy with some aspect of your life, do something about it. LIVE YOUR LIFE. If anyone would have told me a year ago I’d have had met Stefan, would consider Boyd a friend and be going to the Gorge in a few months I would’ve looked at them like they were crazy. BUT because of this music, I’ve had the most incredible year of my life. And I’m totally excited to see where else I end up. One thing I know for certain, I’ll continue sharing the LoVE all along the way.

“You’ve gotta do much more than believe if you really wanna change things.”

Keep It Positive

In life there are always ups & downs, goods & bads, chances & choices.

You have the choice to say what’s on your mind either good or bad.

You have the chance to make an impact in either a positive or negative manner.

In any case, why choose anything other than being positive?

Yes, life can throw you curve balls. You can encounter people or situations who breed negativity. It’s up to you to find the positives. It’s up to you to make the choice whether you’re going to let the negativity overshadow. There’s ALWAYS something positive to be found in every situation. Sometimes it just takes a bit longer to see it or find it. Sometimes it takes a bit of creativity to bring it to light, but I firmly believe you can & will find a positive if you TRULY want to.

20130519-073441.jpg

It doesn’t always come easy. Be persistent. Take control of what you don’t like. If you see or hear something that bothers you you can ignore it or address it.

20130519-073904.jpg

Within any given day, any given situation, you have the opportunity to voice your opinion. Say what you mean & follow through with it. Don’t say something just for the sake of saying it. If you don’t mean it, don’t say it. There’s no point in blowing smoke.

20130519-074252.jpg

Staying true to your word is a way of living. What you say is a reflection of who you are. Be genuine, be encouraging, be supportive. Think before you speak. Your words can & will always leave a lasting impression. One that sticks around long after they’re said. Sometimes when nothing is said, the message comes across more clearly. Think about it.

20130519-075052.jpg

This is where it becomes tricky. People don’t always mean what they say. I’ve learned that the hard way. Some mean it in that moment. Some say it because they think it’s what you want to hear. Some say it because they want to get something. Some say it without even thinking or realizing potential consequences. Just because you mean what you say, doesn’t mean everyone else does. At times that can be disheartening, I realize. But, as with anything in life, nothing and no one is perfect. My point is, What you say (or don’t say) and how you say it makes a difference.

I digress. Back to the original point of this post.

We only have this one life to live. It is what you make of it. You get out of it what you take from it. Look at the bright side of life and all it has to offer you.

20130519-081009.jpg

Be honest. Keep faith. Life is for living and living brightly. Life is for loving and loving wholly.

Your words reflect your actions. Your actions influence thoughts. All of which have an impact on your path which also may impact those around you. If you have the choice to keep it positive, why choose anything other than that?

“Keep your head up
Try and listen to your heart
Be kind always, no matter
We all grow up
And someday we’ll say goodbye
So shine your light while you got one”
-Drunken Soldier by Dave Matthews Band

Be kind, always no matter. Be positive, always no matter. ❤

Kind, Caring and Generous

Birthdays are special days.

Some don’t care to celebrate them.

Me? I sure do.

It’s a day to celebrate you.

It’s a special day dedicated to celebrating those you love most.

It’s a day to acknowledge what a gift life is and how much better our lives have become due to the presence of those in our lives.

Today, I’d like to wish a very happy birthday to a pretty incredible person.

An individual who gives his heart to all he encounters.

An extremely talented individual who remains humble in the midst of our insanity.

An individual who is kind, caring and generous.

A most sweet soul I had the pleasure of meeting last fall, Mr. Boyd Tinsley, violinist of the Dave Matthews Band.

My life has been warmed by the pure goodness that emanates from his heart.

Today I celebrate this kind soul as he celebrates his birthday.

Those that have met him or have had interactions with him will tell you the same… You’d be hard pressed to find another to be as kind, caring or generous than he.

Happy, happy, happy birthday Boyd!

We all wish you the happiest of days & most beautiful of years!

Lotsa LoVE to you today & always!

Side note: Stay tuned for a post documenting the Boyd’s visit to Pittsburgh last fall as well as my trip to Charlottesville, Virginia

Have a beautiful day my friends! Keep the love in your heart today & always ❤

My Sanctuary

There’s this one place I love to escape to.

On the most amazing days that one could imagine, you’ll most definitely find me there.

When the day is unbearable and I’m angry at it all, there’s no place I’d rather be.

Even on a run of the mill, normal day there’s no doubt of where I’ll be.

When the words can’t be found, they are.

Tears will dry or tears I’ll cry.

Pictures painted. Dreams dreamt.

Storms calmed.

Anxiety ceased.

A simple escape. In mere seconds all is right in the world. All that is good shining brighter.

If you need me, this is where I’ll be.

When I Grow Up

As an itty bitty little one, I dreamt of becoming a ballerina, with pretty pink frilly tutus and pale pink ballet shoes. I did dance for a while, starting when I was 3 years old.  I don’t remember quite how long I danced for, but you all know I am not the most graceful of beings. 🙂

Then I wanted to be a teacher…. I always loved school supplies!

Then for a brief moment I decided I wanted to go to college for accounting and become a CPA…  An A in high school accounting does not an accountant make… I was never one to be tied to a desk and crunching numbers….

As a grown woman, I’ve found that priorities change… Goals change…

THANK HEAVENS for that!  I mean would you REALLY wanna see this girl in a pink tutu????!!!  I THINK NOT!  I don’t even wanna see that! 😉

Instead, making a conscious decision, I want to be kind and caring; generous and forthcoming; sincere and genuine; creative and free-spirited.

As I’ve grown up I’ve learned that the path I’ve ended up on is exactly where I’m meant to be.

As I’ve grown up I’ve chosen to be understanding and empathetic.

As I’ve grown I am proud.  Proud of where I am today and proud of where I stand today.

I may not have it all, but I’ve got what matters… a roof over my head, a job that I love, a pretty fantastic family and some phenomenal friends.

Yes, disappointment will surface now and again… but with every disappointment comes a fresh start or a new beginning.

About a year ago, I got a fresh start that I didn’t ask for.    Looking back on the situation nearly a year later, I see it not as a door slamming in my face as I surmised at the time.  Not at all. In fact it was a huge door opening for me.

I got the chance to be what I’ve ALWAYS wanted to be.  Something, well someone, I’ve been destined to be since the very moment I was born.

Stepping out of my comfort zone, into an unknown future, having not a clue in the world where I was going or what I was doing…

That’s when I decided exactly what I wanted to be when I grew up…

I just wanted to be me.

That’s it. Something that I’ve been doing since the day I was born… JUST BEING MYSELF.  Living life and doing what I like to do…

Loving my music… being “crafty” and creative… learning new things… spending time with family and friends.

I think that’s good enough, don’t you?  I do.

As always,
