I’m a Rappin’ Mummy?!?!

I got a lovely surprise today and very much-needed chuckle from the darling Tinkerbelle

It seems as though I am now a rappin’ mummy right alongside two of my best bloggin’ buddies!

Check out the video Tink made and then go check out her blog at Laughter is Catching!

Safe trick -or- treating to all and make sure the little kiddies are safe too!

If Not Now, When? – Incubus 8.31.11

Myself, Lil bro and one of my girlies, Carrie,  have been not-so-patiently waiting for this show for MONTHS.

IT WAS AWESOME.

Incubus killed it, opening up with banging performances of  Pardon Me and Wish You Were Here… Two of my favorites!

Fan-flippin-tastic!!!

We were a little apprehensive as to what the set list was going to look like since they just released a new album.  I really do like the album, If Not Now, When? a whole lot.  That being said, it is a TOTALLY different feel than most of their other music… it’s a bit more mellow than all of their previous albums from which I have countless favorites.  I was just hoping that they’d play a good mix of old and new tunes throughout the night and THAT THEY DID.

I also got to hear Have You Ever, A Crow Left of the Murder, Dig, Drive, Nice to Know You and Megalomaniac… ALL of which are favorites as well.

Brandon Boyd is just simply delicious… he has an awesome stage presence.  His voice soft and soothing, sending chills while mesmerizing.  Very easy to become entranced by him… It’s happened once or twice I’m not gonna lie. 😉 For a quick second though I thought I spied a porn stache and about died, but I was wrong… Thank goodness!

INCUBUS did NOT disappoint.

They quite simply “brought it.”

And we loved every single minute of the show…

Including the opening act!  It is always a crap shoot when it comes to opening acts.  Sometimes you like ’em, others not so much.  It’s take ’em or leave ’em.

On this night, at this show, the opening act was a “like ’em” and a “take ’em.”

Young the Giant was awesome.

They were fun. They sang. They played.

And they did all three very well… They had a TON of energy too!

Made a fan outta me for sure that night, as I had never heard of them before.

But apparently they’re getting some recognition.  A bloggin buddy sent me a message while we were at the show saying  these guys made an appearance on MTV’s VMAs that aired on Sunday.  News to me!

I am not much of an MTV gal these days… Why?  You might ask…. Well, when was the last time they actually played MUSIC on MUSIC TELEVISION???? Not very often at all anymore, that is if they even do at all! Too many nonsense and rubbish shows filling up airspace on there now…. I miss the “good ‘ol days”.  I WANT MY MTV!!!  😉

Forgive my digression….

Incubus… phenomenal show.  THANK YOU.

Young the Giant… fanstastic show.  THANK YOU.

Next up… 2nd Jason Myles Goss show of the year later this month, which will put me at 8 shows for the year so far.  Think I can get to two more before the year’s out?  Hope so!  Then I can cross it off THE LIST! 😉

Bush is coming to Stage AE with Chevelle in October as is Parachute on a separate date… Hint, hint.

Tickets would make a FABULOUS early Christmas gift!

 Just sayin’…

Best Gift Ever: Kenny Chesney & Zac Brown Band

A good while back, I promised you a post filled with details and pictures and am just now getting to share the fun with you!!!!

I was the lucky winner of an awesome contest sponsored by Jonathan Michael’s Boutique. (The Boutique recently made an appearance on the tv series Dance Moms that is based in Pittsburgh) I can’t say enough good things about this beautiful shop, all the goodies inside, the lovely gals who work there or the wonderfully sweet owner,  Janie. It’s always a joy to enter Janie’s shop & be greeted by such beautiful smiling faces!

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I picked up my goodies!!! The tickets were absolutely AmAzInG!!!

I immediately called my best friend Jaime & told her she was coming with… we were both absolutely thrilled!

I must admit, I’ve not always listened to country music. I actually HATED it at one point in time. Somewhere along the way though I began listening & liking. (Some, not all!) Mr. Chesney was one that I did like though! Plus Zac Brown Band was playing too! I’m still not sure, two months later,  who I was more excited to see!

Right before the concert, things in my world took a crazy & unexpected turn having lost my job only 2 days before the show. I was bummed to put it mildly. Nothing makes me happier than seeing live music, BUT I thought if I sold the tickets I could use the money towards bills.

I tried to sell them but didn’t get any takers until just before Jaime & I were about to leave. We went anyway… I couldn’t have made a better decision.

We knew we had pit tickets but couldn’t believe that we literally walked right.up.front. to the stage. Seriously?!?  Front row. I don’t care what show it is … there is absolutely nothing in the world better than experiencing live music so up close & personal. Besides many a Buzz Poets shows, the only other time I was able to experience a show so close was the Goo Goo Dolls show last fall.

This show was A-ma-zing… from opening with Uncle Kracker & Billy Currington to ZBB jamming out to Kenny Chesney making his grand entrance it was awesome. Not to mention the fact that they ended the show together …. ZBB & KC killed it on stage together. Their fiddlers were unreal. It was superb from beginning to end.

We were extremely lucky to be surrounded by a fantastic group of people that made the day /night even more enjoyable. From buying us all water to saving spots to dancing & having fun, we couldn’t have asked for better concert friends.  Sometimes “people” can ruin it for you at a show but not on this night…

At the end of the night, tired but happy, walking out of the concert,  I couldn’t help but be thankful.

Thankful for the entire experience. Thankful to have won the tickets …thankful for my best friend… thankful for the fun of the show. Thankful for the piece of normalcy I received that day.

In that drive home, as I went to sleep that night & the day that followed I just kept thinking about how very grateful I was. For that day, I forgot about my worries & troubles.  For that day, I felt that all was right in my world. I was able to feel “normal” considering the recent loss of my job.

In my gratitude I sent Janie a thank you message via Facebook explaining my situation & yet again thanking her for the awesome opportunity.  Her response really got to me… she said she believed that it was not luck that I won those tickets… it was for a reason out of both of our hands. For Someone else knew what lie ahead for me… knowing just how appreciated this “prize ” would be at that specific time in my journey. For that I am grateful.

This concert really turned out to be so very much more than I ever could have expected … from beginning to end… without a doubt unforgettable.

Thanks again Janie & Jonathan Michael’s … you are the best!

I miss you too; really, I do!

Hello my loves!

I’ve missed you bunches and bunches!

THANK YOU for all the e-mails, Facebook comments/posts/messages,IMs, tweets, DMs and comments on posts….

From well wishes and such to letting me know you’re thinking about me to telling me you miss me to all the happy birthday wishes these last couple weeks, you’ve warmed my heart and brightened my days!  You are all the SWEETEST and I am so very blessed to have you in my life!

I am alive and well, I promise you.  AND I miss you too!

I’ve been incredibly busy with all sorts of things… both business and pleasure!

It’s really incredible to say this considering my current “working” situation but I seriously have still been wishing there were more hours in a day!  I’ve seriously been nonstop  for the last 4 weeks.

So here are a couple of updates for ya…

the 33rd bday: twas a nice day in and of itself spent with 3 of the 5  nephews, the niece, mom and sisters; time with the family is always a good thing.  Birthday celebrations were not limited solely to the 28th of course.  🙂  I spent the day prior with my bestest best friend and her family being crafty and enjoying a fantabulous dinner and yummy birthday brownies.  The following Saturday we had a combined birthday dinner at mom’s celebrating mine, lil sis and mom’s birthdays where we enjoyed some of our absolute favorite eats including corn on the cob, fried green tomatoes, the most spectacular breaded & baked chicken stuffed with swiss cheese, ham and crab meat AND a birthday cake from the BEST italian bakery ever, Moio’s.  Birthday festivities then concluded on Monday with happy hour at one of my FAVORITE places with one of my loves where we indulged in the most amazing spinach artichoke dip, gad-zukes, breaded shrimp and homemade potato chips washed down with a long-time favorite, Woodchuck Pear.  Mmmm-mmmm good!  Suffice it to say, I gotta get some good runs in after all those yummy eats!

Craftiness:  Things in crafty land have really been picking up!  I’ve finally had time to work on special orders that were placed a while back and have been getting a TON of requests for special orders coming in now.  I just finished up wedding invitations for a dear friend of mine which I am super excited about since this is the first time I’ve done them for someone other than family.  Stay tuned for pictures of those… I am meeting with the bride-to-be for lunch today and don’t want to ruin the surprise of her seeing them on here before she sees them tomorrow!  I am REALLY pleased with them…. and for those of you that know me and how I roll, it takes a lot for me to be happy with a finished product.   I am my own worst critic!!!  🙂

Here is a peek of some finished products I finished recently…

The teenage gals the pretty personalized pictures were done for...

I’ve also been spending time on creating a separate blog for all my crafty stuff… I’m still a long way off from being ready to share it with you.  Lots, lots, lots to be done there….. BUT, how would you like a sneak peek at the banner I made for it?!?  Only because I love you 🙂

What do you think???? Any suggestions or ideas for the blog itself?  Email me with any feedback you have!!!  Your opinion matters to me. 🙂

I also made a Facebook page for Maggie Mae’s Days,  so if you’re on Facebook, please “like” my page and pass it along to your friends and family out there while you’re at it!

the job:  As of yet, I still have not found a new job.  I am plugging away looking for postings everyday… both in my field and completely unrelated.  I’ve applied for many and am praying that the right thing comes my way…  Through the love, caring and support of friends, family and the anonymous, random act of kindness I received in the mail in addition to God’s guiding grace, I am making it through.  It’s not been easy… some days I feel a little bit defeated but on most I am looking ahead to the next endeavor that is in store for me… whatever that may be.

friends & family:  I’ve been fortunate to have had the opportunities to spend some much-needed “catching up” time with my family and friends.  From a Sex and the City Movie Marathon (where I had my first Cosmo…. YUMMY!!!) at my cousins with some fabulous gals to my bestie’s daughter’s 13th birthday party to time with the nephews to free movie screening passes with my loves to lunch & dinner dates with the best friends and old friends I haven’t spent time with in ages.  I’ve had lots of girl time that was long over due and very much-needed…  Through events that have occurred in recent weeks, I was made aware again just how fragile life and the relationships intertwined within are.  I’ve learned yet again, who my truest and dearest friends are…  the ones that have always and will always be there for me in it all and through it all.

At 33 years old, I have far surpassed the need for “fair weather” friends; My time and energies are only to be spent on the truest and dearest from here on out.  Here today, gone tomorrow is not how friendships should be; no matter the situation or circumstance, the ladies I’m surrounding myself with are here, just as I am for them; some of which I may only see once every 8 years  or others I see several times a week, but know I can call them up any time of day just to talk, cry, laugh, vent or just be stupid and silly  Through the tears and the laughter I love my girls both near and far…

the man situation:  we’ll pretty much call this non-existent.  For me, right now… this is where the least of my focus is being placed.  I’ve got much bigger fish to fry than to be worrying about silly boys!  😉

I will say that an ex has continued to try to resurface, making contact yet again after things didn’t end well and MUCH time has passed… instead of ignoring this time as I did with all other previous contacts from him before, I took some time, did some thinking and did end up responding, asking him only “what gives”…. Yet, even though he reached out first and I responded, I’ve not garnered a response in kind as of yet.  Sometimes, somethings…. are better left unsaid.  Just sayin’.

music land:  I’ll  be attending concert #7 at the end of the month… INCUBUS with lil bro and one of my loves.  Music has been my steady companion over the last several weeks.  It’s keeping me company while crafting, running, cleaning and driving and any other thing in between.  I’ve been branching out and finding new digs through Jango as was suggested by a friend of mine as well as my newest addiction, Spotify.  OMG, Spotify is a taste of heaven for a music lover.   It incredible to be able to listen to entire albums for free while also discovering new artists or rediscovering past musical loves.  If you haven’t received an invite to join Spotify, seek one out… you won’t be sorry.

Here’s a snapshot of myself with Scott Blasey, the lead singer of the Clarks from a show I went to see earlier this month (show #6 for the year).

I absolutely adore this man….  he’s a sweet soul who has kept  true to his hometown roots throughout his career… I met him probably about 12 years earlier, but can’t find the picture to save my life at the moment…. If I find it though, you can bet I’ll share it with ya later. 🙂 This was a great night spent with family and friends while listening to some of my favorite tunes.  What more could I ask for?!?

Well my lovies, that is it in a nutshell…. a rather large nutshell, but you get my drift.

I’ve not forgotten about you, I promise.

I am still reading your posts, I promise.

Thanks for sticking by…

Just keeping myself extra busy these days.  It’s the best thing I can do for myself at the moment… trust me .  🙂

SOMETIMES… that’s the only thing you can do.   Do for yourself.  Be yourself.  Trust in yourself.

I’m about to be a Palindrome…Lucky me, turning 33! (Updated)

It’s still officially my birthday week!

Apologies to those who have received this twice…. WordPress went a little wacky on me and didn’t publish the most recent draft like it was scheduled to do at 11:11pm.  Sooooo here is the correct post!

On Thursday, I will enter into a super cool, elite club that only becomes available once every ten years….

I’ve gotta soak it up for all its worth because membership in this club lasts but a single year.

Little sis is joining the 30’s club in a few short weeks…

Mom is joining the 60’s the same day as lil sis turning 30…

SOOOOoooooo, I don’t wanna be left out in the exciting birthday club festivities.

What is so exceptional about turning 33 you may ask?!?

Well you see, I’ll be a palindrome for an entire year!

A Palindrome!!!

Yes, I am one of those nerdy number lovin’ peeps that seems to spy palindromes EVERYWHERE…. ALL THE TIME.  Well more so recently than I have in the past.  I kid you not, every time I look at the clock it is a palindrome.  Anyone else out there like this?  Please tell me I’m not alone out here! Someone  has got to find number loving a lil sexy?  No?!  Really?!?!   Darn.  My bad.

pal·in·drome

[pal-in-drohm]

–noun

1.

a word, line, verse, number, sentence, etc., reading the same backward as forward, as Madam, I’m Adam  or Poor Dan is in a droop.
As I said I notice them EVERYWHERE, but it’s usually numbers more so than phrases.  I look at the clock on my laptop and it says 9:59…. a few minutes later I look and it’s 10:01.  Next time I look at my phone it’s 12:21.
Driving home from my cousin’s house Friday night…. I’m stopped to make a turn and look at what I saw…
It honestly has been freaking me out a little because it’s been happening so frequently lately, but this whole turning 33 thing… I’m gonna revel in it for all it’s worth!
My 22nd birthday was by far my most fun and memorable so far.  I was able to hang out with a bunch of my friends, intermingling my college friends with long time friends and Kennywood friends which never, ever happened… We had a BLAST!!!
For my 33rd I don’t have any big plans…  not sure what will be going on at all.  I’m pretty sure it’s not going to involve bar hopping and doing shots.  That, my friends would prolly end up badly!
Let’s just say this….
I’ve got high expectations for this number 33….  we shall see what happens come Thursday and for the next 364 days that follow!

LUCKY 33

And now I leave you with a fun tune by Weird Al… yes, you read that correctly!  lol
The whole thing was written using only palindromes!!!  Pretty cool 🙂
Ooooh!  Guess what!   It’s 11:11 PM…. Nighty night my friends 🙂
